      About

Occupying the same space in The Tasting Mall as Luka Moto, Funky Lam Kitchen comes to life at night when the cafe shutters at 5pm. This is when the party starts with boldly-flavoured Laotian food, punctuated with savoury and spicy notes or pungent and bitter aromas. There’s Padeak, a fermented fish sauce that adds a strong umami to classic dishes like larb, som tum, gai yang, and neua nam tok. These simple dishes are elevated by the owners’ insistence on using only the best produce from around the world — trout or wagyu from Australia and organic produce from Laos’ hills. The Short Rib Or Lam, for instance, is typically a rustic dish of eggplants, herbs, and the occasional meat. But here, the kitchen adds beef ribs for extra indulgence. Meats are cooked low and slow, and vegetable baskets adorn the centre of the table along with sticky rice, a staple in many households in Laos. Cocktails, designed by Iron Balls ambassador Carson Quinn, are made to tame the fire caused by the spiciness of your meal. Make sure you order one, or even two, to round off a bold, delicious dinner!
