    About

Nestled along Cavan Road, Mizuya is a gem waiting to be discovered by lovers of Japanese food. Omakase (chef’s choice) is the menu on offer here, though you’ll find affordable sets available during the busy lunch hour.

By day, tuck into a selection of donburi, from a premium Wagyu Don set complete with a sous-vide egg, to affordably-priced Chirashi or Sashimi & Unagi Don sets.

Come dinner time, the restaurant transforms into an intimate space where diners indulge in an extensive tasting menu. Tuck into three kinds of appetisers, and a refreshing salmon carpaccio. Dinner then progresses to an assortment of seasonal sashimi, served on a bed of ice and beautifully garnished with edible flowers. A bowl of piping hot clear soup is a good palate-cleanser, before the chef serves up the main courses — nigiri sushi, a mini don bowl, and miso soup, ending with some sweet Japanese fruit and hot tea for dessert. Sushi fans can opt for a full Nigiri Sushi Omakase, which comes with 15 pieces of nigiri sushi and a handroll.

Head chef Kenny is also an expert in pairing whisky with Japanese food, so be sure to ask him for recommendations on a delicious dram for an accompanying nightcap. (Jul 2019)
