    About

Hidden in Millenia Walk is this gem of a Japanese restaurant that specialises in grilled meat skewers and unagi (eel). Here, the eels are flown in live from Japan weekly — look out for the tanks of live slippery eels — and the chicken used for yakitori is locally-sourced.

The Tori Momo is a must-try from the yakitori menu. Grilled chicken thigh is tender and juicy, wrapped in a crispy golden skin that adds a delightful crunch to the flavourful meat. Also good is the Tsukune, where the minced chicken meatballs can be enjoyed as is, or with a topping of cheese and mentaiko sauce. Opt for the latter if you’re a fan of umami-rich creamy sauces.

Unagi dishes are also not to be missed at this joint. The Unagi Hitsumabushi is a great way to enjoy the freshly grilled eel. There are three ways to enjoy this grilled eel speciality — as a bento box of smoky, charred eel atop a bed of rice, with the condiments of wasabi and seaweed, and mixed with a light dashi broth. The meat is soft with a good bite. Wash it all down with an icy glass of Ume Shu, a refreshing mix of shochu, yuzu, and sparkling soda. (Oct 2019)
